Where do I find track conditions?

Find track conditions by selecting the track and then a particular race. Under the race number you will see the conditions listed based on if the race is run on dirt, all-weather (synthetic), or turf. Races can be switched from one surface to another based on conditions.

Dirt conditions:

  • Fast: dry, even, little to no moisture. Horses generally run their fastest times over these surfaces.
  • Wet Fast - Surface water on track, but base is still solid. Fast times are generally recorded.
  • Good: Some moisture and is almost fast. Generally, produces slower times.
  • Muddy: Track is wet but with no standing water. Generally, produces slower times.
  • Sloppy: Track is saturated with standing water visible. Splashing occurs when horses run over this surface.
  • Sealed: Track has been packed down to allow water to run off the track and not be absorbed.

Turf (grass) conditions:

  • Firm: Dry grass with little to no moisture. Equal to fast on dirt.
  • Good: Grass contains some moisture and has a slight give.
  • Yielding: Grass with recent rain and has a significant amount of give.
  • Soft: Grass with a large amount of moisture.
  • Heavy: Grass with an extreme amount of moisture. Produces slowest times.
